Chapter 1: Bunny and Bloody

Chapter Text

“What do they need me for?” Henry thought. He was currently in his car driving to an old Freddy’s location. He was certain it was the one from the 90s, but it could’ve been from 85’ too. The locations have started confusing him; he hadn’t been keeping up.

He assumed that because he was one of the few surviving owners of the company, he technically owned the building, so everything in it was his. Maybe they were just bringing him over so he could check it out and take what he wanted. Everything else would either be destroyed or left there.

The road lead into a dense forest. He figured it wouldn’t be much farther. He didn’t know what he would take when he got there. Most of everything still there must be rusted or broken by now. Maybe he could take some animatronic parts, but everything else will probably be sold or just left. A horrible waste.

He pulled up into what used to be a parking lot. There were already a few other cars there. Waiting for him, he assumed. He got out of his car taking his time. He wasn’t looking forward to this. He just wanted to go home. Maybe smoke a cigarette. He didn’t bring any with him; a mistake.

It was windy out. His greying ginger hair blew into his face. He was too tired for this. He just wanted to hurry this up.

The building looked terrible. Overgrowth had taken over the building. For a building left to rot since 85’ it looked pretty good. The sign was threatening to fall off however. Henry didn’t want to get any closer for his own superstition, but he knew he was wanted inside.

Speaking of the inside, it was far worse off than the outside. Cobwebs and rats had taken this place as their home. Henry nearly threw up in his mouth. He knew Bill would be disappointed in the state of this place.

Bill…

Henry needed to stop thinking about William. He had moved on. That man had disappeared ages ago. He was probably dead. Good. He wasn’t a good man. Henry would never forgive him for what he did to his daughter. He was almost positive William had killed her. She disappeared about a decade ago. This fall would be the anniversary. He couldn’t bear it.

William was also accused of the murder of five other kids. Henry almost didn’t want to believe it. Him and Bill were the only two suspects, considering the suits used to lure them away. After the case was closed, Bill disappeared. It was suspicious, but it wasn’t proof. He wished he could’ve asked him. At least to figure out about his daughter. Unfortunately, he knew why Bill would target her. He just wanted to know what happened.

He felt bad for not caring much about the other kids, but he didn’t know them. And Bill was accused for the murder. Despite thinking that Bill killed Charlie, he couldn’t believe that he would kill some stranger’s child. With Charlie, there was a motive. The five kids didn’t make much sense, in Henry’s eyes.

Tables had collapsed and chairs were rotting. The dining room looked dead. Dust covered the floor like a blanket. Although, there were notable footprints visible. It must’ve been the Fazbear Entertainment employees. It wouldn’t surprise him to figure out that they explored the building before him.

The stage had also not aged well. There were holes where the animatronics used to be. They didn’t seem to fall through, despite being missing. Knowing his own luck, they were probably stolen, meaning no new parts.

It finally dawned on Henry that he was alone in the building. Or at least, no one was in the dining room. It felt kind of spooky being alone in the building. Dark, minus the tiny light pouring through from holes in the ceiling. Water damage took everything. He hoped mold wasn’t growing.

Bill loved exploring abandoned buildings. Despite the sad shape Freddy’s was in, he would’ve loved it here.

Stop thinking about William, Henry. You want nothing to do with him.

William had plagued his mind ever since he disappeared. Constantly thinking about what he was doing, what he would do if he was with Henry, what he was thinking, what he looked like. He had never had an obsession with Bill before then. But now…

No. He had moved on. Bill didn’t matter. He was gone. He would do everything in his power not to think about that man. He hated William, but deep down there was a love for Bill. Not even he could deny that.

Pirates Cove was also empty. Not even the back room had anything substantial. An old endoskeleton was still around, but Henry didn’t want it. Bill helped make it. Someone else could have it. Old costume heads… of Bill’s characters. Henry decided nothing was worthwhile in the backroom. The office and kitchen in similar conditions to the other rooms. Nothing of note. The bathrooms probably wouldn’t have much either, but Henry decided to check for nostalgia’s sake.

Walking in he stepped on something… and found the missing animatronics. Strewn on the ground, the parts of the broken band laid lifeless. It was hard seeing them like this. They looked dead. Henry did care about these characters even if only Chica truly belonged to him. They still had a special place in his heart.

How did they get all the way over here? And why were they destroyed? Did someone do this? Why? Looking up, he noticed the safe room. He hadn’t seen it in years. The door was open. Henry was very sure that they were sealed… Very few people would know it was even there. Had Bill been here? Or was that just hopeful thinking?

A strange smell was coming from the room. An unfamiliar smell, but a strong one. Henry didn’t want to go in there. He didn’t know what he would find. Strangely, sounds could also be heard inside. Something was in there…

“Ok, Henry…” He whispered to himself. “You can do this! There are people waiting outside for your call. You’ll be ok.” He took a deep breath and pushed the door further making his way inside. What he found inside nearly made him throw up.

The first and only important thing he noticed was the Springbonnie suit lying on the ground, almost exactly where it was left, at least from what Henry could remember. But there was one notable difference. It was breathing.

“Oh my god!” Henry screamed running towards the suit. Blood covered and matted the yellow fur. It was also in a pool under the giant rabbit. Someone was inside the Bonnie suit and they had suffered a springlock failure. Henry didn’t know long they had been here, but he needed to get them to a hospital quick.

The person inside groaned and twitched slightly. They looked up at Henry with… familiar eyes. He decided to ignore it for now. This person clearly needed help. Henry knelt closely to the suit.

“Are you ok?” Henry asked, not knowing what to do with his hands. He still had a springlock crank in his car. It reminded him of better times. He couldn’t force himself to get rid of it. He knew how to help this person, he just needed to make sure they would be ok.

“Henry…” They whispered. That voice… It was different from the last time Henry had heard it, but it was so very clearly-

“…Bill?” Henry adjusted his glasses. It couldn’t be. He was just thinking about Bill, just today. How was he here?

“I missed you.” He smiled through the teeth of the bunny suit. Blood was trickling from his mouth. His eyes red from tears, and his voice hoarse. He must’ve been screaming. Oh god… was Bill alone when this happened? Why did he get in the suit?

“Bill… what the hell are you doing here?” Henry backed away, but didn’t stand up. What the hell should he do? Should he just leave him? This might be Henry’s only chance to talk to him again.

“Oh. Just…” He coughed. Blood drooled from his mouth. His wheezing was hard to stomach. Henry covered in his mouth, praying that he won’t vomit. Bill was having a hard time finishing their sentence. “Nostalgia, I guess.”

“Be serious, Bill. How long have you been here? Have you even called for help?” Henry’s mouth was agape.

“Of course, I did.” More wheezing. “No one around. At least a day.” Another cough, this one much longer and much more guttural. “It hurts.”

“No shit! I-” Henry was just so surprised he was even seeing Bill again.

“Please. Help me.” Bill looked into Henry’s eye. His eyes… They always reminded Henry of silver. His grey eyes were so unnatural and bright compared to his darker complexion. When he first saw them, he barely noticed, but more time around Bill made Henry pay more attention. Especially after Charlie’s disappearance.

“I…” Henry had the opportunity to save him, but did he want to? Should he? Would it make him a bad person if he left them here? Henry wasn’t a bad person. Would he be a bad person if he SAVED them?

“Wait here, Bill.” Suddenly, William grabbed Henry’s arm when he tried to stand up. They winced. It must’ve hurt a lot to move, but Henry was stunned that Bill even could right now.

“Please. Don’t leave.”

“Don’t leave me.” He coughed violently, eventually letting go of Henry. He had little strength to hold on.

“I’ll be back, Bill.” A promise Henry didn’t know if he could keep, but he’d say anything to calm Bill down. He quickly walked out of the safe room making sure not to look back at Bill. He rushed outside seeing certain men in suits meeting around their cars. They didn’t pay much mind to Henry until he made his way to his car.

“You done in there?” They asked. They looked ready to leave, but concerned at Henry. He was sweating.

“Uh…” Henry needed to decide here and now what to do with Bill. He could tell them to seal up that room again locking Bill inside. He would never have to worry about them again. They would bleed out in there and never be found. They could never bring harm to someone ever again. But…

He would never see Bill again. He’d be responsible for their death. He would never get to talk to him, to ask him why. Why he did what he did. Did Bill murder those kids? What happened to Charlie? Why did Bill have to be so complicated! Would Henry be a murderer if he left them? Would God ever forgive him? Henry was a devout Christian, at least he used to be. Ever since Bill disappeared, he had started questioning his faith.

“There’s someone in there! Call an ambulance!” Henry rushed into his car to grab the hand crank. He decided to save Bill, if only for his own morals. He would never forgive himself knowing he left Bill to die. It would plague his mind constantly knowing he could’ve done something different.

The Fazbear Entertainment employees did as they were asked if hesitantly. Henry rushed back inside, crank in hand. Bill was right where he was left. There wasn’t anywhere to go anyway. Henry knew that springlock failures hurt a lot. This wasn’t Bill’s first either. This had to be torture for him.

“I’m going to help you, ok, Bill? But just know, we’re going to have a long talk when this is over!” Henry immediately began freeing Bill from his springlock prison.

“Thank you, Henry.” He groaned as Henry removed the Spring Bonnie head. Bill was very different since Henry last saw him. Ignoring the blood and cuts, his hair was much shorter. It was strange seeing the normally dark and long coily hair that used to sit in a ponytail be short and blonde. The only sign that it was dyed was the dark roots.

His eyes looked up at Henry’s in longing. Henry tried to ignore him as he removed the rest of the suit. Bill screamed but ultimately remained very calm, besides nearly fainting a few times.

“We’re going to get you out of here.” Henry finally returned eye contact. He had a hard time looking into Bill’s eyes again after so many years. Bill seemed to have a hard time too, but that could’ve just been the embarrassment of the situation.

“Please, Henry.” He whined. It was strange hearing Bill be so pathetic, but it was strangely exciting. Henry finally looked at the situation now that Bill was free. He was whining and moaning and covered in blood. Henry couldn’t help but stare, but the sound of a siren broke him from his trance.

Bill had passed out and was carried into the ambulance. He had to argue, but the paramedics let Henry ride along. When they asked for this man’s name, Henry drew a blank. Should he tell the truth and risk Bill getting involved with the police again?

“I don’t know.” It was confusing since they knew he obviously knew this man, but they didn’t ask many more questions. When Bill woke up, he could fabricate his own story.

If Bill woke up…
