Chapter Text

“So… how do you do this?” Hero asked, holding the blunt.

“You kinda breathe it in but keep it in your mouth, keep that in for a second, then breathe out,” Aubrey explained.

“Yeah, like this” Sunny said as he demonstrated how to take a hit from it.

“That will never not be weird to see,” Mari said. Fuck it, Mari is here too. I didn’t explicitly say she was dead last chapter. “I can’t believe my little brother and pseudo-little sister smoke now.”

“You’re about to try it in like two minutes,” Aubrey said.

“No need to sweat the little things, Aubrey!” Mari responded with a smile.

“Where were you the first time we got high anyway?” Sunny asked.

“Like I said, don’t sweat the small stuff little brother!”

With that, the two adults started smoking for the first time. Hero didn’t get by without coughing a lot, but hey, if you ain’t choking you ain’t smoking.

The same group was last time was here too, Kel and Cris being together, with Basil and Kim possibly having a thing but maybe not. They didn’t really need a trip sitter, Basil and Kim had enough of a tolerance and experience to be good trip sitters while also participating in said trip.

Not even 5 minutes after taking their first hits, they could feel the effects of the blunt.

“I don’t know what I expected it to feel like, but this is kind of it,” Mari said.

“Yeah, I know what you mean,” Sunny said. “You’ll get used to it in around half an hour or so.”

“How’re you doing Hero?” Aubrey asked.

“Not sure,” he responded.

Mari and Hero went to the couch, the latter resting his head on the former.

The group found the sight amusing, seeing Hero fit the “golden retriever boyfriend” vibe.

Nothing happened for a moment, until Mari started giggling to herself. At first it was quiet enough to notice, but not to call out. As she kept going however, the laughing got more intense.

“What’s so funny?” Basil asked.

Struggling to stop laughing, Mari answered. “He-Hero’s name is Henry,” she said through the laughing.

The rest of the group was quiet at first, until Kel slowly started to laugh. Then everyone aside from Henry joined.

“You guys keep laughing like I don’t know your full names,” he said

“Point taken,” Aubergine, Kelsey, and Kimberly said.

The group settled down, Hero still resting with Mari. The two moved in such a way that Mari had begun laying on Hero, each of them smiling bigger than the group had ever seen.

Obviously, Basil took out his camera to capture the moment of the young couple. They were essentially perfect together, it would be a crime not to capture it.

They let them be for a while, until the pizza the two older siblings ordered had arrived.

“This food tastes so fucking good Sunny,” said Mari.

“Oh, okay, wow,” he responded. She wasn’t lying however, it did taste like the best pizza any of them had eaten.

They ate pizza, it tasted good, that’s about all that could happen there. Next they were all in the living room. Conveniently, Sunny and Mari’s parents were absent, so they don’t matter here at all.

They all sat in the living room, the group all sitting in pairs. You can probably guess the pairs based on the rest of what’s been written, it doesn’t really need to be explained.

“Let’s watch SpongeBob,” Sunny said. It was the greatest idea any of them had ever had.

After the beauty of seeing SpongeBob while high had started to fade, the duos mainly did their own thing. Hero lied in Mari’s lap once more with a goofy grin, Basil and Kim smoked more, Kel and Cris continued to watch SpongeBob, and Aubrey played with Sunny’s hair as he read.

“What are you reading, little brother?” Mari asked.

“A book where eating metal gives you powers if you won the genetic lottery,” he said.

Technically these books wouldn’t exist for another few years timeline wise, but we’re just gonna ignore that.

“What kind of powers?” Hero asked.

“Pretty basic powers. One enhances senses, one enhances strength, you could push or pull on metals… emotional manipulation,” Sunny said, trailing off as he realized that power wasn’t quite as simple. Neither was the one to see what your opponent would do before they did it. That’s not even mentioning the two whole other power systems the book has, or the fact that each system is fleshed out to an insane degree.

This is all a plug for a certain book series. If you know what it is already, you know real media. If not, read Mistborn.

“Bye the nines, I’m tweaking,” Basil said.

“Did you just say by the nines? Aubrey asked. “What does that even mean?”

“I dunno. Heard it somewhere,” Basil said. It’s probably from something that has 9 gods or whatever, if I had to guess.

I don’t really know where to go with this, so we’re moving on. The group moved on to other things, they’re playing uno now.

Uno brings out something dangerous in a person, especially a high one. It was an intense game, ultimately won by Hero. Luckily there were no casualties, but there were mental injuries. Friendships had been changed forever in that game. Kel also owed Sunny 20 dollars again.

“Would anyone like cookies?” Mari asked, offering a recovery for everyone who had managed to survive.

Nobody could survive Mari’s cookies, let alone someone high who felt as if everything tasted better this way.

“Wait, I have an idea,” said Kim. “You could add something to the cookies.”

“What is it?” Mari asked, wondering what Kim was suggesting for her cookies.

“You can put weed in them,” she said.

“You can eat it?” Mari asked.

“Yeah. Gets you a lot more high, feels a little different too.”

Having an edible when you hadn’t even been high before this point probably wasn’t the best idea. They hit you a lot harder than you expect.

Mari didn’t know that however.

“Sure, why not!”

Just like that everyone’s fate had been sealed. Half an hour later, Basil and Kim felt fine, they were the resident stoners. Sunny, Aubrey, Kel, and Cris knew what to expect to a small extent, so it wasn’t the worst for them, though they didn’t feel the best.

Hero and Mari had no prior experience, and they were definitely feeling it.

This would either be a really fun high for them, or a really bad one. No in between.

They were lucky Kim and Basil were still present enough to be trip sitters, to say the least.

Notes:

Open ending, certainly not because I just didn’t know how to continue and I only have 30 minutes until it’s not 4/20 anymore
If this doesn’t make sense or has a lot of typos or grammatical errors, that’s just part of the bit of me being really high. Especially today, had to celebrate the holiday properly.

In other words, I’ve joined sunburn central since the last sunburn related thing I’ve written, and it’s a really fun place. Lot of cool people there, so shoutout to them. It feels amazing to talk to more people who get stunlocked when they hear the word sunburn in real life.

Notes:

Yeah what you see is what you get
I had the idea of writing a fic while high, I also thought it would be funny to write the characters themselves getting high. Omori has been among my top hyperfixations lately so here we are.
I’d say leave feedback if you have any, but the fic was written exclusively when I was high, so it’s not like it’d be good to compare to my usual writing. I’m also high right now, I’m gonna go watch the final duet and cry now.
