Work Text:
Over the past few days, Yagi has noticed a few things.
One, living with another person is a bit more demanding.
Two, it is much more expensive.
Don't get him wrong. Toshinori had a lot of money and it wasn't about the price. Except he didn't usually have to go shopping very often. And now?
He stared straight at the empty fridge.
"...What are we looking at?" Izuku whispered, standing next to the blonde.
Ah. Right.
After all, now he lives with a teenager from another dimension. He almost forgot about this fact. Who knew that life would take him this way? Even Mirai probably didn't expect this.
He didn't even tell him about it. It's enough that they don't speak. Nighteye doesn't have to think he's crazy yet.
"I think we need to go to the store."
"Okay? It isn't the end of the world" he laughed, walking past him to go into the hallway.
And here comes the second problem. Which Yagi completely forgot about.
"...What are you wearing?"
"What?" Izuku frowned. He was wearing normal clothes. He wasn't wearing a garbage bag. Has the style of clothing really changed in this dimension?
"You look like a vigilante!"
"...Oh."
This time he looked in the mirror, examining his reflection. He was wearing the same clothes as before. But he looked like someone you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley.
"It might be a little problem" he smiled nervously, spreading his arms.
"Don't you have any other clothes?" the man asked, only after a moment realizing the obvious fact. When you run away, you probably don't take a closet of clothes with you "...Oh."
And that's exactly what happened with an oversized white T-shirt and black pants. Fortunately, the pants Izuku was wearing were not much different from normal ones. But the shirt was too big. So he looked like a kid in his parent's shirt.
So plan B
Toshinori found a brown coat and threw it over Izuku. Perfectly. He looks less suspicious than he did with all that armor on. Besides, he looked a bit funny in an oversized coat.
The blonde couldn't resist taking a photo as the boy put on his coat. He looked a bit like a little Tsukauchi with green hair. He needs to see this.
"And I was thinking that I have poor taste in clothes..." he muttered, glancing at the man.
"Don't worry, young Izuku! We can go buy you some clothes first" he offered, smiling. He literally beamed when green boy noded.
"...It's quite crowded" Izuku muttered, staring at the entrance to the mall.
"Usually it's normal" Yagi replied, walking next to the younger man. He quickly turned his head alarmed "Wait... You don't like crowds?"
'Oh, kami! I forgot to ask about that! What if he's afraid of people? What if he has a panic attack? What if...' his face becoming more and more panicked.
"No, no! It's not like that!" he replied, calming the other's nerves, "I just... haven't been to a place like this in a long time."
"Huh? Haven't you been to the mall?"
"You know. Unfortunately, there is no multiversal shopping mall between dimensions" he rolled his eyes, amused.
Yagi couldn't help but smile a little at that comment "So if you've never been there, you need to change that" he announced, grabbing the shorter one by the arm and actually dragging him inside.
"Wait! You're going to trip me over!"
They both walked among people, heading to clothes stores. Izuku looked around quite nervously, constantly touching someone's shoulder. He honestly didn't like crowds. But he wasn't afraid of it at the level of a panic attack. He didn't really like the touch of people he didn't know. And in a shopping mall it was inevitable.
But seeing the smile on the man's face, he couldn't just refuse. After all, he lived with him, damn it! If Toshinori wanted to do something together, Izuku definitely had no right to refuse him.
Besides... He felt warm in his heart at the thought that someone wanted to spend time with him. He hadn't met anyone like that in a long time. Not since... That moment.
Before he knew it, Toshinori had dragged him to one of the stores. Of course, waiting for the boy to choose something. But this is where the stairs began. Izuku had no idea what to choose.
He didn't know anything about clothes! That's why he only had one pair of the same ones!
He started looking around, browsing the racks of clothes. Oh, it was some brand store. And it was an expensive brand store.
As soon as he noticed the price, he immediately looked betrayed at Toshinori, who was smiling innocently. That man-
They left the store without anything anyway. It was similar with the next ones. It just wasn't Izuku's style. A regular T-shirt and pants? Booooring. He also received strange looks when he took off his coat and revealed his prosthetic arm. Apparently this wasn't an ordinary sight. Weird.
But as he walked around the gallery, Izuku also noticed how technologically backward the entire dimension was. Like, seriously? Escalators that get stuck? Gigantic queues at the checkout?
Izuku probably won't like the shopping malls here.
Nevermind. He just saw the best thing in his entire life.
With stars in his eyes, he reached for the hanger, looking at the T-shirt.
T-shirt with the inscription "pants"
"This" he only said, moving the shirt closer to the man. Yagi looked at her, then back at Izuku. He couldn't help but let out a small snort of laughter "What?"
"It's just... I couldn't imagine you with clothes like that!"
"Your problem" he pouted, searching for more t-shirts.
Finally, after a few minutes, they left the store with a few T-shirts and sweatpants. Even though Izuku claimed he didn't need that many clothes, Toshinori took a few more anyway.
Then they went together to arrange food. Toshinori had to admit, he preferred shopping with someone else, not alone. However, he noticed young Izuku's confusion. At first he thought it was because of the crowds. However, it was a completely different reason.
"So we're supposed to walk around here and find things lying around like this?" he asked, looking uncertainly at the fruit boxes.
"Uh... I believe, that how it works, Young Izuku."
"Huh..." the green-haired watched as Yagi collected things into the cart. He walked away from him, looking around. Finally he picked up one fruit which was an ordinary pineapple. If he was already here, it couldn't be boring, right?
"Toshinori?"
"What's that?" he asked as the blonde turned around. He saw the elder's confusion as he tried to keep his face serious. That's just gold.
"... That's pineapple" he mumbled.
"And that?" Izuku asked, pointing to the next things
"Tomatoes"
"This looks really weird!"
"It's just a melon" Toshinori replied, saying it as if he was with student. Aizawa would be so proud! "I didn't know you didn't have such things..."
"A terribly strange dimension" he replied, barely holding back the laughter that escaped his lips. And seeing Yagi's determined face completely made his day.
He continued to ask about each item as they walked down the aisles. Toshinori believed him completely. It was too brilliant to be true!
Then he saw it.
"WHY THERE ARE BABY CHICKENS?!"
Holding back a devilish smile, he took a deep breath, trying to sound as surprised as possible.
Toshinori jumped a little startled by the sudden scream. He quickly turned around, surprised by the younger man's panic. Something happened? Who's injured?
"Young Izuku, what's wrong?!"
"WHY ARE YOU SELLING BABY CHICKENS?!"
Toshinori was even more confused.
"We are... What-"
"How dare you!" he exclaimed, taking a box full of eggs "They are just babies!"
"...I-I think it's not how it works-"
"They. Are. Just. Babies. Toshinori!"
The blonde started waving his hands, shaking his head rapidly. It was obvious he didn't know what to do.
"It's like that-! They are... No, like-!"
Aizawa wouldn't be proud.
"That's enought from you!" he snorted, turning around and hugging the eggs "I'm taking them with me. I'll raise them to be good chicks!"
"B-But Young Izuku!"
"Don't even talk to me! You murderer of children!"
Everyone in the alley looked straight at him. Oh, shit.
"I'm so sorry-!" Izuku literally wheezed, while trying to stop laughting.
Toshinori pouted, turning his head away. Their trip to the store ended with a security guard.
"I didn't know they would believe that!" he laughed loudly, clutching his stomach.
The blonde looked at the younger man, unable to stop a small smile from appearing on his face. It felt good to hear young Izuku laugh. He often didn't behave like a typical child. It was good that he could relax so much now.
But he didn't have to send a security guard for him.
"Okay... Maybe that was a bit funny" Yagi chuckled quietly,
placing a hand on the back of his neck.
Eventually they both started laughing. Together they walked towards the apartment, continuing their conversation.
Now Toshinori was sure.
It was good to have company.
