Little Blanket Thief

Summary:

"My room's cold." Tommy huffs, bundling all of the blankets towards himself.

"And mine isn't?" Wilbur asks, laughing softly, and Tommy glares at him. "It is, but you have a shit tone of blankets." Tommy grumbles, cocooning himself. Wilbur coos, only half mockingly, finding it an adorable sight.

"Shut the fuck up." Tommy demands, words muffled by the blankets that have practically swallowed him whole.

"I can buy you more blankets, baby." Wilbur offers, but Tommy shakes his head. "No. These are my blankets now, therefore I have a surplus and you don't. Suffer." Tommy says triumphantly, grinning.

Or; Tommy is a blanket thief, Wilbur thinks it's cute.

Notes:

I need more blankets. Like, really fluffy ones.

Fluffy blankets are love, fluffy blankets are life.

Work Text:

Wilbur is woken by his door creaking open. He doesn't open his eyes, or even really move, because he knows who it is. Wilbur listens to the footsteps get closer until his bed is dipping at the edge. "Nightmare?" He asks sleepily, rolling onto his back to look at his son. Tommy shakes his head, slipping under the covers. "My room's cold." Tommy huffs, bundling all of the blankets towards himself.

"I can buy you more blankets, baby." Wilbur offers, but Tommy shakes his head. "No. These are my blankets now, therefore I have a surplus and you don't. Suffer." Tommy says triumphantly, grinning. Secretly, Wilbur wishes he could keep the sight forever.

"Well now I'm cold!" Wilbur complains, despite not being cold, even though he now has only one blanket.

"Not my problem." Tommy shrugs, closing his eyes and settling. Wilbur sighs, fond. "There is a very simple soloution." He informs, shuffling forward and stealing the blankets back. He re-distributes the blankets evenly across the bed, ignoring Tommy's grumbling and attempts to steal them back.

"Wil! I'm cold!" Tommy whines, pouting at him. Wilbur hums in acknowledgement, pulling Tommy into his arms.

He wraps around the blonde, burrying his face in Tommy's hair and pulling the blankets over them both. "Mine." Wilbur huffs, tangling their legs together. Tommy melts, going limp in his arms.

"Better?" He asks, pressing a kiss to Tommy's scalp. Tommy hums his agreement, already sounding sleepy. Wilbur huffs out a soft laugh, pulling Tommy closer.

"Go to sleep, my love, I'm not going anywhere." Wilbur murmurs, closing his eyes. He recieves nothing but a non-commital hum in response.

⁕*⁕*⁕

Wilbur wakes up in an empty bed.

He sighs, mentally preparing himself for the day. Tommy has never really been an early riser, not in the time Wilbur has known him at least, but he is almost always up first. It has never really bothered Wilbur, except for today. The only reason it bothers him today is because he wants his Tommy Time.

It's a contractual obligation.

Huffing, Wilbur stumbles out of bed, shivering slightly at the sudden change in temperature. He leaves his room, walking across the hall to see if Tommy is back in his own room. He peers in, and- Nope.

Next he goes downstairs, quickly spotting a tuft of blonde curls over the back of the couch.

Target aquired.

Wilbur walks over, dropping down beside Tommy and wrapping his arms around the teen, flopping back. Tommy shrieks, freezing. Wilbur just laughs, shuffling to sprawl out over the entire couch, Tommy laying on his chest. "Wil!" Tommy huffs, glaring up at him.

"I need my Tommy Time!" Wilbur pouts, squeezing the younger. Tommy rolls his eyes, but shifts to get comfortable. When Wilbur gets clingy, clingier, rather, Tommy is essentially trapped. Struggling or trying to leave only makes Wilbur cling to him for longer, so it's better to just accept his fate. (And Tommy will never tell Wilbur this, but all of the affection is nice.)

Wilbur huffs when he finally notices the blanket wrapped around the boy's shoulders.

"Sunshine, you do not need to keep stealing my blankets." He sighs, pretending the sound isn't unbelievably fond. "Yes I do," Tommy huffs, like it's the clearest thing in the world. "You're a cold-blooded weirdo with a freezing fucking house, I need all the blankets I can get." Wilbur blinks.

"I can make my house warmer, lovely, you know you just have to ask." Wilbur says, running a hand through Tommy's hair. "Shut up, you're disturbing me." Tommy grumbles, closing his eyes.

Wilbur raises an eyebrow, but dutifully quiets.

For a few minutes he just lays there, running a hand through Tommy's hair. It's almost painfully domestic, but the thought does nothing but make him smile. His sunshine, his Tommy, his baby. Wilbur's.

"I love you." Tommy mumbles, which Wilbur coos at. "I love you too, darling."

Notes:

Today, we get possessive Wilbur. Possessive Wilbur has my heart. Most of the possessive Wilbur fics I read (and write) are super sappy. It's great.

This was kind of inspired by my cats, who are all blanket (and occasionally pillow) thieves.

This is entirely platonic, and not speculation.

Constructive criticism is welcome, and feel free to point out any errors!

Stay hydrated, eat something if you can, stay safe. I love you guys. <3 /p
