Chapter 7: An Outside Intermission

Larissa Weems has spent the last several days since the arrival of new student Wednesday Addams simply observing the going-on in her school. She had watched as rumors spread and teachers failed to heed her instructions in the first day of classes alone, and seen the results of such failures as her own. She had watched carefully and taken note of those who harbored animosity to the Addams name, or shown signs of other disturbing behaviors.

Afterall Marilynn Thornhill had been a teacher at her school for over a year without once raising any red flags, only to finally show herself as the Outcast hating bigot she really was in the end. If she had failed to see the woman for what she really was, what else could she be missing?

Larissa had also watched as Wednesday and Enid began to integrate themselves into classes with their peers, the two often joined by Yoko Tanaka wherever they went. The Vampire was often seen to be threatened by the smaller seer for some reason or other and merely laugh it off while hiding behind the young werewolf for protection.

It was obvious to Larissa that Wednesday was slowly growing tolerant of the other girl in her space, especially when she was still prone to threatening everyone else who came within reach. She had also seen, and even encouraged, that Enid take a break from her numerous extracurriculars until or if Wednesday wished to join one with her.

At least for the time being.

Larissa had also watched as some prankster ran around the school targeting the teachers with ‘relatively harmless’ pranks. ‘Relatively harmless’ for outcasts that is. She knew Thing was running around the school in his free time stirring up trouble, she even encouraged it after she had caught him sneaking out of Thornhill’s room carrying a bottle of Poison Ivy extract. After all it wouldn’t do for only the ‘normie’ teacher to be targeted when they wanted to keep fingers pointed elsewhere once she was finally taken care of by ‘the monster’, now would it.

(King’s Gambit)

Thing T. Thing was on a mission. A self assigned mission sure, but one he had permission to complete from the Principal of Nevermore herself. His mission, drive that bitch Laurel Gates absolutely insane before they finally killed her. He’d already started by first dosing her underwear drawer with Poison Ivy Extract, and hiding dead rodents in all the hard to get to places in her room. He’d been caught by Weems when he had used the extract, but she’d simply told him to target other teachers too and keep suspicion away from what they were really planning.

So now he was setting up elaborate traps that only someone with slow human reflexes might fail to bypass. A trip wire here, a snare there, mild toxins and allergens left out ‘on accident’. Simple little things that just so happened to be in places where getting caught might result in falling down the stairs, or breaking a limb, maybe some mild anaphylaxis. Nothing the nurse couldn’t heal if a student happened to get caught in one by accident.

You know, just some Good old Addams family favorites.

Just because they happened to be easily thwarted by the teachers and students with enhanced senses, or not cause any lasting damage to those with enhanced bodies, didn’t mean he was actively targeting a specific person. Not at all. Can’t be proven.

That one particular teacher alone was affected by Poison Ivy in her underwear, well that’s just a coincidence.

Oh look, it was time to go and move things a half inch to the left again. What fun!

(King’s Gambit)

Laurel Gates, AKA Marilyn Thornhill, was livid. Ever since that brat Wednesday had arrived to the school someone had been tormenting her with a never ending series of ‘pranks’. Oh she knew it had to be the little psychopath, no one else had any reason to start pranking the teachers when they did, but even Principal Weems wouldn’t hear of it.

Apparently the girl had been traumatized prior to arriving at Nevermore, and was now attached at the hip to her goody two-shoes roommate since minute one. While this made it easier to keep the girl at the school for the coming blood moon, it gave the brat an airtight alibi when it came to the pranks. The worst part is that even if she could prove it, Laurel wouldn’t as it might get the girl expelled if she went too far, and she needed the girl to remain here until she could revive Joseph Crackstone and kill all of these outcast scum.

But really, who else but a psychopath willing to put piranhas in a swimming pool, would put Poison Ivy extract in someone's underwear? The painful blisters had been a torment like no other as she was highly allergic to that particular plant, and the embarrassment involved in her care was something she would only forget with the death of those who knew.

She could not wait for her night to come.
