“He’s serious, Peter,” Stephen joined in. “We’re not dating. Tony and I are friends.”
Peter glanced between them, his face contorting through at least half a dozen emotions before it landed on incredulous. “You two are being serious,” he said. He shook his head. “Wow. I don’t even… wow.”
That was not quite the reaction that Tony was looking for. For one, he wasn’t entirely sure what it meant, but mostly he got the sense that Peter didn’t believe them. “Pete—“
“You two are like… the most sickeningly in love couple I’ve ever seen. Which is impressive, given a) Aunt May and Uncle Ben were pretty much soulmates, b) how often I’ve seen the two of you sit there and insult each other as though that’s your love language, and c) you two can’t have a single conversation without starting to flirt with each other.”
