Work Text:
Everyone would expect, with that explosive personality, that Bakugo is listening to that screamo and hard rock always coming out from near his dorm.
But, no. It’s Kirishima and he could count on ten hands how many times Bakugo has yelled at him to “turn that crap down!”
Bakugo listens to more chill music, lofi-ish stuff, soft alternative, that Kirishima thinks he could fall asleep to. They always listen to it when they’re studying, and Kirishima comes to like it. Even listens to it on his own sometimes.
Bakugo makes it known how much he doesn’t “like that loud crap”.
Saying “Why the hell do you want to listen to people screaming in your ear?”
Kirishima laughs, saying “I guess I have enough with you anyway.”
He gets a blast in the face, but tries to be more considerate.
Kirishima smiles, “Why don’t you show me the music you like? And then I can show you the less scream-y stuff I like?”
Bakugo rolls his eyes, but agrees with a blush. How could he not blush? Looking at Kirishima’s bright and excited smile.
When their friendship blossoms, so does their love for sharing music with each other. Kirishima thinks he’s made playlists for about every mood Bakugo could probably have and Bakugo absolutely loves to hear them.
Needless to say, when Bakugo asked Kirishima to be his boyfriend, it made perfect sense for him to ask through a playlist.
It’s the one Kirishima listens to the most, especially when he misses Bakugo.
He had to wonder which playlist Bakugo liked to listen to when he missed him, if he even did that at all.
Bakugo was a funny guy with his affections, after all. His ‘I miss you’s came in the form of wordless hugs, a dinner with the vegetables cut in shapes, a surprise of a kiss.
When their school week got a little hectic, both of them too tired to even go to each other’s dorms after their showers, Kirishima found himself falling asleep with one of Bakugo’s playlists. Even though he was just a wall away, it made him feel even closer.
Kirishima wakes up in the middle of the night and decides that his bed is too cold and he knew his boyfriend wouldn’t mind a cuddle.
He takes the spare key he has hanging on his lanyard and unlocks Bakugo’s door.
It was “only” for emergencies, but he decided kissing his boyfriend was an emergency enough.
He walks through the door, seeing Bakugo splayed across his bed in that Bakugo way and he laughs.
Kirishima made his way to his bed, moving his blanket slightly and brushing the hair off of his boyfriend's forehead to kiss it.
That’s when he sees the headphones in his ears, and Kirishima grins.
Of course Bakugo wouldn’t lose them through the night like he would.
Still, he tries his best to stir Bakugo awake with another kiss, and another. And eventually he blinks awake.
“Hey Eiji.” Bakugo mumbles, already moving to make space for him.
“You fell asleep with your headphones on, babe.”
Bakugo lets out a silent “Oh.” Before he takes them out and puts them away.
“Left my phone on my desk, can you get it and change it to my sleep playlist?”
“Sure.” He says, with a kiss to his nose.
Kirishima makes sure to turn on Bakugo’s speaker, opening his phone to his music app.
His heart soars when he sees what Bakugo had fallen sleep to initially.
A playlist named “My Shitty Haired Boyfriend’s Favorite Music” with all those “screaming songs” Bakugo claimed to hate.
Kirishima smiles, looking at it for a second before Bakugo complains.
“Hurry the hell up and cuddle me you idiot.”
“Sorry, forgot your password for a sec.”
He puts on Bakugo’s sleep playlist, walking with his phone to his bed and laying down with a kiss to Katsuki’s head.
Katsuki immediately wraps his arms around him, already half asleep as he got comfortable in his arms.
Kirishima can’t hold it in then, “I love you, Katsuki.”
The room goes silent for a minute before Katsuki’s lips tremble, “Love you too, Eij.” He whispers.
Kirishima can’t help but kiss his surprised grin again and again, Bakugo letting out a chuckle and telling him to fuck off and go to bed.
The next morning, Kirishima kisses his boyfriend awake, music lightly filling the morning air and he feels more in love than ever.
He can’t help but smile when he listens to his “loud” music when he’s getting ready and Bakugo doesn’t complain one bit.
