Chapter Text
The day finally came when Ken invited me to his house. Not much changed from the last time I was here. His family wasn't wealthy enough like the others in the neighborhood so I wasn't surprised when the I walked in the house and the smell of beer filled the air. His dad was passed out in the couch with the TV still on, he had his head lead backwards and his mouth open, looking like a dead fish. He quickly pulled me upstairs, assuming he didn't want his dad to wake up. His room was a bit more put together than it was years ago. His walls were painted nicely, his sheets looked brand knew. And their weren't any holes in the Walls. He did have a couple posters of naked women, but that was if course expected. We didn't have any homework to do so we could do whatever we wanted. Even tho I'd been alone with him many times, being alone in his room felt weird. Mabey it's because I grew up shelters but being in a boy's room with no one else around was something knew to me. We were in the middle of watching 'Sleep Away camp' when his door swung open. "Kenny can you hel-". It was younger sister, Karen. She must have been surprised to see me because she paused mid question. "Oh h-h-hi". She said looking a bit flustered. "Oh hey Karen, this is Y/n, you remember her, shes an old friend." "N-nice to see you again". She said giving a little wave. "Same here". I waved back. Kenny stood up walking towards her, "need anything?" He asked. "I wanted help with my homework, b-but it can wait". She said walking away. "You sure?" He asked again. "Yeah, I'm sure" she said closing the door. "I see she's still shy" I said un pausing the movie. "Yeah she's still a little scared of people, but she's getting better, she's friends with Craig's sis, so I like to think she's in good hands". I made myself a bit more comfortable on his bed. "You don't have anything to worry about, one thing about the Tucker family, they take shit from no one". He laughed "haha, that makes sense". He said laying down next to me. We watched a couple more movies before I had to go home. I wish I could have stayed longer but it was a school night so I had to be home before 9. Kenny walked me out but I then heard his mom call out to us. "Hey sweetheart, your not gonna stay for dinner?" I was kinda surprised she called me sweetheart, considering our last interaction, but I pushed that thought Away. Assuming she was only rude because she has been drinking. "No I'm sorry I have to go it's getting late." "Well I can't let you leave in a empty stomach, here let me fix you a plate". This was completely different from how she acted last time. She quickly made and handed me plate with fried chicken, and mixed vegetables wrapped insecurely in tin foil. I thanked her for the food, said goodbye and left. Kenny's mom's attitude had me thinking. She was so nice when she wasn't drinking for like a couple hours. I can only Imagine how she would be if she stopped drinking all together.
