« He was holding her mom’s letter open in one hand while the other one was over his mouth to muffle the sobs that were shaking his shoulders. Alex froze and went backward step by step back into the bunk room and then she was hiding under the covers, even though it was way too hot for that, and crying again, even though she thought she’d finally gotten rid of all of her tears.
