Chapter Text
It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was shining, the birds were chriping on their phones, and a young couple was down the city streets happy and enjoying the relaxing weather. This couple was made up of a Florida panther named Amity Blight and a bunny hybrid named Luz Noceda that was riding her girlfriend's shoulders. They have been dating for a few years and their bond has continued to grow stronger. With all the drama that has be happening lately, it was nice to just hang out as a couple. During this lovely and surprisingly normal day, Amity and Luz pass by an ice cream stand down the street.
"Hey Amity, do you wanna get some ice cream?" Luz simply asked.
"Sure." Amity nodded.
As soon as Amity nodded Luz kissed Amity on the cheek, jumped off Amity's shoulders, and raced back to the ice cream stand leaving tomato red and purring Amity behind. Despite them dating for years it still flustered Amity enough to take a few moments to try to reboot her brain.
When Luz arrives, the animal manning the ice cream stand was gone and left behind a sign saying that they will return in about 10 minutes. Checking the many favors, she focus on trying to find a ice cream favor that she knows that both Amity and herself likes. (Not because she want to share a cone with her girlfriend like in those cheesy rom-coms...definitely not). She was lost in her thoughts before a light flick at her ear caught her attention. Luz looks up to see a large lion smiling down at her.
"Hello little rabbit, what kind from ice cream would you like?" The lion said, his voice smooth like honey.
"Oh I'm not ordering yet, you see I'm just waiting for girlfriend to come over. She should be here in a few minutes." Luz grinned.
"I see..." A dark sinister look came over at the lion's face but before Luz could notice he went back to same smiling facade he placed eariler. She also didn't notice the large shadowy figures that started to creep out of the nearby alley.
"While you wait, would you like to try out a new ice cream favor we been working on?"
Luz, not wanting to be rude and also curious, said yes to the offer. The lion handed her a weird smelling white ice cream cone.
No sooner did she taste it, did Luz's vision became dark.
The last thing she saw was a cruel smirk.
Amity finally recovered from the blush attack and made her way to the ice cream stand, only to discover it missing and her girlfriend gone. She tries to call her on the phone, but it went to voicemail.
"She didn't ditch her, right?" Amity shook her head, no, this was Luz she was talking about. She wouldn't do that.
The only thing left being was her girlfriend's Azura bracelet that she got for her birthday. Amity lifted Luz's bracelet before looking around. Although she was not a canine, Amity's sense of smell was still strong as she could smell the remaining scent of her girlfriend as well as the faint scent of an older carnivore.
"Luz?" Amity call out, looking across the street and back before a police officer stopped her.
"Hello miss, can I take a moment of your time."
"Sorry sir, but I'm in the middle of trying to find someone very important to me." Amity said while still focus on finding her little bunny.
"That person wouldn't happen to be a herbivore, would they?" The policeman questioned, looking concern.
Amity paused "Why does it matter?"
"We have been getting reports about Shishigumi sightings causing trouble around this area. Have you seen anyone suspicious?" The cop whispered.
"Shishigumi?"
"They are a malicious lion gang that resides in a neighboring city's back alley market. Few of their members have form a small group to set up another base in this city's back alley market."
"No I haven't seen anyone...but, if you don't mind me asking, what has this group been doing specifically?" Amity trying to keep her tone steady, trying not to have her growing worries show.
The police officer sighed. "This gang have be kidnapping herbivores by disguising as owners of little ice cream stands with drugged flavors. Meat sellers haven't been enough of their 'supply' from hospitals and funeral homes as of late, so some customers are willing to pay anything for any kind of herbivore meat. If you see anything like this, please take note or report miss." and with that the policeman walk to another passerby.
Amity may not know the gang but she knowing her girlfriend, Luz might have either been kidnapped or follow the kidnappers. With one more whiffed of Luz's scent from the bracelet, Amity is set on a path to track down her girlfriend.
"We gave you the whole afternoon and THIS all you brought."
"Look, a cop was getting to close for me to wait any longer, so I book it. At least I brought something."
"Yeah, that 'something' just so happened to be a bite size morsel. I mean at least you could have brought back the girl's girlfriend that she mentioned. We could have sold them as a special bunny combo, but noooo. You had to go run like a little-."
The voices arguing back and forth sounded like they were submerged in murky water to Luz's ears. Her mind fuzzy but still barely able to understand the lions' words around her and she was furious. She was prepared to jump and show these crooks why you shouldn't mess with Luz Noceda.
At least she would, if her limbs didn't feel like it weighed a ton.
"What in the beastar world did they put in to that ice cream?" Luz thought as she tried lift her body off the ground for the 5th time, only to fall back down and unfortunately catching the attention of one of the lion thugs.
"Aww, is a little bunny trying to walk? Don't bother, the dose was enough to knock out a kangaroo!" The thug laughed before walked over to Luz, grabbed her ears, and lift her head face to face, making the bunny winced. "Although, if you play nicely we sell you someone who will make your death as quick and painless as it can be."
Luz summoned what little strength she had before hisses and spitting venom directly into one of the lion's eyes.
"Oh shit, what did she do?!" Another lion with a longer mane shouted.
"I DON'T FUCKING KNOW BUT IT BURNS!" The now screaming lion wildly wiping and clawing at his face, trying to escape the pain. Luz, still trying to stand, smirked at the gangster's despair.
"Damn it, you kidnapped one of those hybrid freaks!" another lion (this one with green eyes) growled as Luz manages to finally stand up, though her legs were still shaky and wobbly. "Don't just stand there you idiots! Knock her out again!"
Luz tried to dodge but it felt like she was dragging her feet and arms through quicksand. She felt a small stabbed her back before falling back into the darkness, leaving the lion gang and talk among themselves.
"So, what now? Can we even get a good price for her?"
"Maybe we can eat her instead?"
"I am not eating that freak! She might be poisonous! Let just kill her and get it over with!"
"No..." One of the lions, who was holding the passed out Luz by the neck, spoke out with a vile smirk. "I got someone in mind that would be more than happy to buy her."
