After finishing at the Fire Academy, Buck’s stopped on his way out by Captain Bobby Nash from the 118 — the most talked-about station in LA. Nash offers him a spot as their new probie, impressed by his background as a dispatcher and his record-breaking run through training.
But Buck turns him down. He knows what went down under the last captain, Gerard, and he’s not about to walk into a place still recovering from that kind of mess. He tells Nash the team needs time, trust, and probably therapy before anyone new shows up. When Nash flinches at the word “therapy,” Buck figures he made the right call.

“So, wanna tell me why you’re craving some adrenaline tonight?” Peter asked in an attempt to make their conversation last longer.
Harry seemed to tense up as he clenched his jaw and his shoulders became more rigid.
“I’m just a young rich moron doing young rich moron things, Spidey,” Harry replied with a bitter laugh. “There’s nothing more to it than that.”
“Is there not?”
Peter might have not been an expert on ‘young rich morons’ as Harry had put it, but this did not seem like something they would usually do. Not sober and so purposefully, at least.
“That’s what everyone thinks,” Harry said as he looked away.
“Right.”

Summary
Poor kid, he had time to think before his eyes traveled from the body covered by the heating blanket to the young man's face.
His heart dropped in his chest and his whole body turned cold with fear.
“Oh god…Whitaker?” he said as his eyes landed on the very familiar face.
The young man was deathly pale, skin waxy and lips blue, but there was no doubt in his mind that this was their former med student that he hadn't seen in months lying lifeless on the gurney, body covered in blankets, c-collar around his neck and breathing tube in his mouth and secured to his face.

Dennis doesn't get matched with PTMC or the emergency department. Almost a year later he is brought into the ER in critical condition. By then no one has heard from him in months.
