Here was the thing: no one, then or since, had ever heard of the Flash.
No one.
Not once.
Wally had needed to sit with that revelation for a while. In the locked library bathroom, counting out his breaths.
But this was fine. He could deal. Parallel universe. Sure. Why not?
It wasn’t any more theoretical than time travel had been a year ago.
Sure, it theoretically took, uh, several orders of magnitude more energy to accomplish, but it wasn’t impossible.
He was totally whelmed.——
No one in Young Justice has ever heard of the Speedforce. No one on Earth-12 has ever heard of the Flash. Super-speed isn’t always an easy power to handle. None of these facts are conducive to Wally’s return home.
Or: Wally’s stranded, Dick’s haunted, the JL are confused, and superpowers have a tendency to drive physicists insane. Oh, and Wally West is a founding member of the Justice League now. Whoops?

Summary
Jiang Cheng held the dark bamboo of Chenqing carefully between his fingers, smoothing clear oil along the body of the instrument with a soft silk cloth. The silk was so fine it slipped along the bamboo like water, and the oil was so pure it almost glowed in the bright lamplight. He’d never owned those two things at once—by the time he’d been able to afford such fine silk for maintenance, the old woman who had refined the oil had died without an heir—but of course, if he had, that would only have been best for Chenqing.
Somewhere between his fingertips and his own spirit, he could feel the spirit of the dizi quietly humming with joy.
