Summary
Pomni finds Jax on the brink of abstraction in the toilets during the award night. Despite only barely being able to save him, Jax retreats, isolating himself. Pomni tirelessly tries to get through to Jax, in order to save him from abstraction. Zooble chooses to temporarily put his grievances with Jax aside to try and help him get better. Gangle is afraid to approach Jax, but also appears to be similarly sympathetic. Kinger is in his pillow fort.
Ragatha doesn't know how to feel.

I need this so desperately in canon. For Ragatha and Gangle to talk like this. For Ragatha to say everything shes been holding back (even if its not the most moral thing). I need someone to establish that Jax isn't the only person who has felt pain. That hes not the only one whos lost friends.
But even if it doesn't happen.... I'm glad I got to read this. It is so vindicating to see I'm not alone.

Summary
Ragatha's hair is always so perfect in the Digital Circus. There's no gel, or hairspray or curlers required. There's no... mother required for upkeep. That doesn't keep the bad memories away, though.

Ragatha hates to remember the way her hair was pulled back so tightly it put pressure on her skull. She hates remembering the thick, overstimulating hair gel that pushed all her baby hairs back. She hates remembering how close her mother put the curling iron to her skin, how she would squirm from the heat, and how her mother would yell at her, “If you keep squirming like that, the iron is going to touch your skin! Do you want to get burned?”
She hates remembering the ungodly amount of hairspray it took to get all those picture perfectly curled ringlets to stay still for the rest of the night.
She hates remembering the time when—
Ragatha turns from the mirror abruptly, walking out of her room with a smile on her face, smoothing a hand through her hair as she does.

Thought I bookmarked this. I also thought that after reading it the first time, the ending wouldn't hit as hard.
As the several tissues I used can attest, i was wrong on both fronts. Thank you. You did a marvelous job capturing Ragatha's anxieties and social ineptness, I was crying halfway through.
