Summary
So we've seen the preview, right? Devon's dad is apparently evil and somehow knows about Astral and probably also Brendoni and Devon helps them run for it. So I decided to write the first fic in this fandom and speculate on what's going to happen, then follow it up with a recap of what actually did.

Twenty years later, he catches Jake in the act of something that tells him his "dream" was actually a memory. Then he confronts him on it.
Basically just the Longs and their friends having some much-needed conversations and bonding.

The main Woodstone Mansion ghosts (minus Trevor who is still alive and well in 1987) discover Stephanie. She makes… an impression. Also, she’s in denial about being dead and a ghost at first.

Summary
Doctors Jack and Maddie Fenton make a pact; it's a perfectly logical one, albeit emotionally difficult to contemplate.
Neither of them wants to become one of the evil, ectoplasmic monsters they hunt. So, after Maddie brings up the uncomfortable possibility of what if one of them did come back as a ghost, each of them makes a promise: if either of them does, in fact, die and produce a ghost, the other will dutifully eradicate it. Simple as that.
A heartbreaking possibility, but ultimately comforting, Maddie thinks, to know that her husband won't let her become what they hate.
At least, it was comforting, right up until the moment she wakes up outside of her own mangled body, surprisingly mentally sound and intact, only to find herself on the other end of Jack's blaster.

Summary
Phantom screamed.
Even with the muzzle on, it was enough to make everyone pause, including Operative C, because it wasn't a vengeful cry from a ghost or a poor mimicry of human emotion; it was the sound of a child in excruciating pain.
It was enough to flip the switch in Maddie between her head and her heart.
Maddie and Jack are over the moon when the GIW invite them to witness the vivisection of the one and only Danny Phantom, but once it's actually happening, they are hit with the realization that there may be a lot more to ghosts than they always believed there to be. Parental instincts taking over, they decide to do the only thing that feels right: rescue the ghost boy, take him home and nurture him back to health. Needless to say, it results in a few more surprises.
