Summary
A collection of short Emmrich x Rook stories occurring during and after the events of again we light our fires.
Chapter 1 - Inconsiderate event planners have organized an important academic symposium only days before most alphas are due for their ruts. It'll be the first rut cycle Emmrich and Rook have spent together as a couple, but Emmrich is determined to at least attend the first day of the symposium before the fever drags him under.
Things don't exactly go according to plan.
Chapter 2 - Rook enjoys pushing Emmrich's buttons.
Chapter 3 - The domesticity of seeing Emmrich reading in the evening gets Rook hot under the collar. She decides that now is the perfect time to get her mouth on him.
Chapter 4 - Emmrich POV - after the birth of their first daughter, Emmrich is deliriously happy. A simple cuddle with Rook gets him a bit too aroused. Rook takes matters into her own hands.
Chapter 5 - an Emmrich POV of one of the days of Rook's first heat.

Taash leaned forward with their elbows on their knees, a coffee cup cradled in their big hands. "How much wine are the two of you going to drink anyway?"
"It's more about tasting and less about drinking," Lucanis explained.
"And smelling," Spite added, speaking through Lucanis so all could hear. "Smells like grass. Or leather. Or water on hot stones."
"You've been practicing!" Emmrich said. "Oh Spite, that's marvelous!"
"Still tastes. Like sour apples. And stale tea."
Lucanis shrugged and smiled. "It's a start."
Long ago, Lucanis Dellamorte made his peace with death. Now he wonders whether he can find a way to make peace with life.
