Summary
It’s my opinion that after Marineford, Garp should have fallen far harder than canon allowed. At some point it becomes difficult to believe he could commit what amounts to public treason and simply walk away untouched. He attacked an Admiral in front of the world, harbored and raised the Pirate King’s son, raised him alongside Dragon’s child, and spent decades bending Marine rules for the people he loved.
This story explores what might have happened if the Government finally decided to hold him accountable.
The Marines cannot execute the Hero of the Marines without risking unrest and mutiny, but they also cannot allow him to remain unchecked after Marineford. So instead, Garp is quietly contained.
Officially, he retains his title and continues training recruits. Privately, he becomes something closer to a political prisoner — monitored, controlled, and punished whenever necessary to keep him obedient and useful. Sengoku, newly appointed Inspector General, is tasked with keeping Garp alive, loyal, and out of trouble by any means necessary.
At its core, this story explores grief, loyalty, coercion, and the line between protection and control.
