This might as well happen.
It’s a thought Desmond has more often than not. Not resignation and not acceptance, either. Just pattern recognition, simple and predictable:
the world breaks, he shows up, and things get messy before they get better.
This is how it’s always happened.
Then, within a single blink, something is breathing against the back of his neck. Warm, steady, and far too close. He turns to a blur of white and black and red, to the screeching drag of breath that isn’t quite human and doesn’t bother pretending to be, either. For a moment, neither of them move. Then—
“Hey,” Desmond says, voice rough with sleep. “Personal space.”
The shape pauses. Tilts.
Pierrot, he’s learned, does that when he’s thinking.

Summary

He had avoided the man.

So he was well aware of what his psychotic stalkers got up to behind closed doors.

Or fully canon MC got stuck in a time loop and is forced to play through the game over and over again. And ends up not quite normal.
Which is to be expected when you have to seduce the clowns who have killed you multiple times. Joy.

I find visual novel mcs never quite capture my level of deranged stupid so fuck it I'll do it myself!
