Summary
Peter Parker has never been particularly good at dealing with change.
Ned and MJ are back in his life, but things aren't quite the same. MJ doesn't remember him, Ned's memories are full of holes, and Peter is trying very hard not to dwell on everything he's lost.
Then his DNA decides to get in on the fun.
With a new set of mutations making his already complicated life even harder, Peter has to figure out how to live with a body he doesn't recognize—and learn that maybe change isn't always something to fear.

Peter fell quiet for a long moment, still quivering slightly. And then, barely a whisper:
"Just . . . hold me?"
MJ said nothing, because she was afraid of how she would sound when she spoke. Instead, she just wrapped herself fully around him, cradling him to her chest and letting him bury his face in her neck as he curled impossibly tighter into himself and into her, letting out a shuddering sigh that she felt rather than heard.
Peter is having a rough day with his sensory issues. MJ is there to offer comfort, even if Peter hesitates to ask for it.

“You’re putting too much pressure on it,” MJ tells him, when Ned confides in her how he’s feeling, two months into it. "He’s messed up. Like, super messed up. It’s not gonna just—fix itself, overnight.”
“And whose fault is that?” Ned asks, reaching up to the ceiling in exasperation from where he’s laying on the carpet, staring upwards. “Whose fault is it that he was playing—the hermit version of masked crusader, on hard mode for half of a decade, without us?”
"Not yours," MJ says simply.
