The fountain murmurs, and the breeze blows. It’s cool against the rush of heat that hits Jude’s face at the sight of his old teammate standing before him this late at night.
“Why are you here?” Jude blurts out, because he can’t yet say any of the other things racing through his mind.
Erling seems amused by his question. His lips quirk up into a smirk. Jude forces his mind away from the memories of being eighteen and wanting something more than what he had.
“I wanted to find you.”
After the England vs. Norway game, Jude takes a walk by the river to try to clear his mind. He doesn't get much time alone.

Lisbon couldn’t keep the shock out of her voice. Did she hear him right? Was this guy coming onto her? Seriously? After making fun of her or making her uncomfortable for an entire month every time he saw her, he had the audacity of trying to ask her for her number?
“I don’t know who the fuck you think you are, Mr. Jane, but no. Thank you for taking care of my cat, but that doesn’t give you the right to my number.”
or,Lisbon's cat keeps somehow escaping her apartment and going into her (annoying) neighbor's home, forcing them to keep interacting.

In East Asian folklore there is something called the Red Thread of Fate, or more colloquially known as “invisible red string theory”. It suggests that two people can be destined to meet and be together usually romantically through an invisible red string that connects them.
And that string very much exists connecting Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon.
Or more simply, what if they had a physical relationship during the CBI era?

He’d walked over to Teresa’s sister-in-law of his own volition and asked to hold her baby, complemented the child’s beautiful eyes. Teresa didn’t think her heart could swell any larger, watching him spin and laugh and gently pinch the baby’s cheeks.
She might actually want that someday. A family. With Jane.
So even though the pregnancy scared her, frightened her beyond belief, really, she was excited. Ready for a new chapter. Excited to see Patrick be a father instead of imagining a blonde little girl with Jane’s smile that wouldn’t live past the age of five.
