Maybe in another universe, James Tiberius Kirk’s birth is not remarkable in the slightest. Born on a spaceship, yes, but promptly shuttled down to Earth to live in Riverside, Iowa for the majority of his childhood. He would be loved and cherished by both his mother and father.
Not this time.
George Kirk dies not even a minute after James’ birth. He dubs him “Jim” and flies himself into a Romulan ship and dies.
The Kelvin explodes brilliantly.

Summary

Vincent, meanwhile, is caught between the sharp eye of the law, his hunger for opportunities, and a damning cache of knowledge regarding 'the voice of New Orleans'. All he wants is to unmask Alastor.
Both having sacrificed everything to reach their current heights, they find a common ground.

Vincent blinked owlishly in response, very not-subtly signaling he had no idea what he was supposed to do with that. Alastor's eyes rolled so hard they looked ready to fall out of his head.
"It means- don't zone out again, I swear- that it can be tampered with from outside."
He gave him a pointed look at the end, as if that would magically make him understand whatever the fuck he meant.
