Pete isn’t going to say that it leaves his mouth without his permission because that would be a lie. He knows exactly what he’s saying as he’s saying it, because he and Vegas have always been different in their anger.
Vegas explodes viciously. He burns bright and far too hot and anyone in a nearby radius gets caught up in the destruction.
Pete burns like ice. His anger is a silent and controlled thing, a leashed dog that is no less rabid for the collar around its neck.
So when he says it, he knows exactly what kind of effect it’s going to have.

“On your knees.” Vegas steps back all at once, and it’s the first time in a while that Pete remembers they aren’t alone.
Across the room, Pete’s personal team remain standing to attention, all pointedly looking in the other direction to the display Vegas and Pete must make. All well trained enough to know that sometimes they are going to be in the room when Vegas gets handsy, but also that it’s not their place to look. That Vegas has killed men for doing less than looking at Pete with lust in their eyes.
It shouldn’t bother Pete that Vegas is asking this of him, it’s not wholly new, and yet something in the back of his mind is screaming in warning.

Pete looked around the lounge, pretending to be in awe, as if he had never seen anything like it or been anywhere like the lounge of a mediocre club in Bangkok. This wouldn’t even crack the top ten in nicest clubs Pete had attended, either on Vegas’ arm or as a bodyguard to the main family.
Pete glanced to Vegas, just for a moment, as he and Pren both stood to welcome Pete. Vegas’ expression had smoothed over again, but Pete could feel the simmering jealousy, even from where he was standing. It was only going to get worse if all went according to plan.
