“Whether he was kind or not, that’s subjective, but every time I regained consciousness I was asked if I wanted to die. Every time I said no. So he kept trying to save my body, or what was left of it, until he wasn’t able anymore.”
“That doesn’t make it right,” he said. “What he did to you wasn’t right.”
John tilted his head at that, as his brain processed his wording. The LED on his temple turned from blue to yellow.
It wasn’t… right?
Or: John gets turned into an Android, losing his ability to experience emotions, or so he thinks. He, now, has to navigate his life and a complicated relationship full of unfinished business with Bucky Barnes.

He knew May was steady and solid and that she wanted him to lean on her, but he worried she might topple under the extra weight. So he tried his best to shoulder his grief and responsibilities and sense of duty alone. He was strong, he was capable, and he was Spider-Man. He could step up. He could push through.
"You know it won't hurt my feelings if you want to spend time with Tony and Pepper, right?" May tried to tread lightly, knowing if she pushed too hard that he would push back, not against her but FOR her. "If you need my permission to let them care about you, or to care about them, you have it."

They usually involved Peter Parker limping into his lab at ungodly hours, muttering apologies while sporting bruises, cuts, or some other kind of injury that made Tony’s stomach churn. It had become a routine—patch the kid up, give him a quick lecture about not getting himself killed, and shove a plate of leftover shawarma his way before sending him off to bed and calling his aunt.
But this? This was new.
