    Even in his new house, with his new family and a life he was finally allowed to live, Kit couldn't keep that hole inside him from bleeding out. It left words, so many words that felt like acid on scraps of paper. He had to let them out.
    Maybe it wasn't the best call, but he traced that fire message rune and watched the crumpled paper burn into the night.
    He was done.
