Severus returns home after a Death Eater meeting to find a grieving Remus. Their fears about the war and of losing each other come to a head.
Takes place after the end of OOTP*****
"I can't lose you to him. This war has taken everyone from me, Severus. It can't take you too." He righted himself, clutched the front of Severus's shirt with fierce hands. "We could leave."
"Leave? Leave Britain?"
"Why not?" For the first time since Black's death, Remus's eyes contained a wild spark of life.
Severus loathed to extinguish it.

Remus is too close. He has always been just this side of too close, ever since he found Severus sitting alone by the fire in the staff room reading a potions journal on ingredients native to south Asia and struck up a conversation.

Alther: Secrets aren't good for any friendship. It'll tear you up, the more you go on like this. Feelings don't just go away on their own without a catalyst in either direction (telling him and overcoming it, taking space). You two could be something wonderful. I absolutely believe that. There will always be some risk involved in love, Marcia, but I see the way he treats you. You are his biggest priority.
She unlocked her phone and typed out a response.
Marcia: I'm not ready for things to change. You know how I feel about it and why. Things can't change. I'm too afraid of losing him to tell him what he means to me. Now, enough of that nonsense. Where would you like to meet tomorrow?
She hit send — and then her heart shuddered to a stop. The contact name at the top of the screen read Marcellus. It took her brain about two milliseconds to connect the dots.

Summary

“We’re on a road trip,” he announces. "Mr Stark found out about an Iron Man museum in South Carolina, so we’re spending Spring Break on the road. We asked Pepper if she wanted to come, but she said she'd rather die than stand in a room dedicated to all things Iron Man. So… We all have our ideas of fun.”
