Or, Shane gets rightfully fed up after the first month of Hayden's behavior towards Ilya. Punching Ilya was the final straw, so he tells Hayden to pretend he never found out. Dr. Grace took one look at her, at the research dissertation that she had printed out several days earlier and marked front to back with questions, heard all of two of the minutes of the pitch she had on the sun eating alien-microbes, and all but abandoned his bag and notebooks in favor of climbing out of one of the many windows that his packed full of trinkets and diagrams his classroom had. The window made an awful clattering sound as it slammed closed once he’d fallen out of it and Eva had stood there, watching the bright yellow coat bob as Dr. Grace kept fleeing at a slightly above a brisk pace.
