Eddie was ready to call it a night but luck really must have been on his side today because there was a single bottle of regular, plain lube left on the shelf, as if waiting there just for him to come and pick it up. Which he did. Or, he tried to. Because at the same time he reached for it, so did someone else. Eddie looked up to find a tall, blond guy already looking back at him, mouth pulled into a tight smile.
“Sorry,” the guy said, not looking sorry in the slightest. “I just need to get this-“
He tried reaching for it again, but Eddie blocked him with his hand, eyebrow raised. “I was here first.”

He'd planned on sleeping some of the day away, right on the couch, just until it was time to pick Christopher up from school.
And then he'd gone to drive his parents to the airport, and came back home to music blasting and everything his mother nudged out of place back in order and Buck, halfway through the dining room with an armful of sheets, the whole pile wedged under his chin as he tried to keep it upright.
