Eddie ran his hand along the tabletop, then down toward the corner he'd hit earlier. The one he was already going to take care of as his fingertips found the sharp point once more and he immediately understood why he'd been so startled by it.
"Yeah," he murmured. "That's not good."
Or Buck is injured and temporarily loses his vision and Eddie makes his house the safe place he wants it to be for Buck and they kiss about it

Summary
In hindsight, maybe they could’ve gotten out before the whole thing came down. It’s not like they weren’t aware that the building was unstable, but the truth is that it was too sudden for anyone to do anything other than just watch as the floor gave out from under them. There wasn’t even enough of a warning for an evacuation order to be placed. Because there wasn’t really the need for one, the floor was cleared and they were making their way back out when it happened.
Buck was actually talking about how lucky they were that there was no one down there, about how an extraction from there would be tricky when it happened.
And as they go down Eddie is actually thinking about how the universe seems to have a sick sense of humor.or

Summary

He just knows he feels the metal give, and then he has his arms around Buck, kicking his way back up to the surface.
He doesn’t stop to consider the mechanics of what’s happening until after he drags them to the shore.

Summary
Night has started to fall, a slight haze of pink giving way to the encroaching darkness. Despite it being a clear evening with not a cloud in sight, the sky is blank. It’s illuminated by the almost constant lights that fill the city, chasing away the stars Eddie longs for. He sighs. Back in El Paso, he can step outside and look up at the stars littering the sky.
They’ve always been the one constant thing in his life, the one thing that made him feel like he wasn’t so alone.
