Mike knew he was being insufferable. He knew it the moment he woke up with his sinuses clogged, his throat raw, and the general sensation of having been repeatedly bludgeoned with a baseball bat. He could have just called in sick. Could have stayed home, buried himself in blankets, and let the universe move on without him for a day.
But no.
Because the second he realized how miserable he was, his fever-addled brain latched onto a single thought: Make this Harvey’s problem.

“You look terrible,” Harvey said casually as Mike stepped into his office.
Mike blinked. “Good morning to you too.”
Harvey didn’t look up from the file in his hand. “I assume you’re either hungover or dying. If it’s dying, schedule it for after 6 p.m. I have a deposition.”
Mike huffed, but it came out weak. “I’m fine.”
Harvey’s eyes flicked up then, assessing Mike. His skin was pale, even under the warm lights of the firm. There was a faint flush high on his cheeks. His movements were just slightly slower than usual. So, maybe not hungover.

Or, Mike comes into the firm obviously sick and headache-ridden. Harvey takes it into his own hands to make sure nobody gives him shit for it. Nobody except himself.

Summary
Harvey knows that Mike's favorite genre of movie is rom-coms, and he knows that Mike is a great liar when it comes to everything, and he knows that Mike never went to Harvard.
But there are some things not even Harvey knows. There are some things about Mike that no one knows, and for good fucking reason, too.
Harvey does some bullshit (nothing new) and Mike is forced to come to terms with himself (not all that new, either). Rachel is a godsend, and nobody deserves her.
