Summary
When seventeen-year-old Michael Cleary gets outed to his deeply religious parents, things come crashing down around him at a rapid pace. He reaches out to his cousin Ferret, the only relative he's been out to, for support. Ferret tries to run intervention, desperate to prevent harm from coming to his cousin. But there's only so much he can do, and Michael's parents are acting fast.
In the end, nothing will ever be the same again, not just for Michael or Ferret, but for the whole family.

Ferret was just going to come stay with his boyfriend for a few days. Nate was going to come home, find him there, and they'd enjoy each other's company.
Until he discovers he doesn't have his key to Nate's apartment, and heads back out into the cold fall rain.

Summary
Lucas is used to being overlooked, forgotten. He's allowed himself to get a little excited about celebrating his great grandmother's 100th birthday, knowing the entire extended family will be coming to the party. Including his older sisters, whom he sorely misses.
Instead of the touching reunion he was hoping for, he meets a second cousin he doesn't remember, an aunt he sort of does, and a gaggle of children too young for him to ever have run into before. And maybe... maybe that's a sort of okay consolation prize.

On what would have been his twenty-second birthday, she and her husband come to visit his grave as they have every year since his passing, for the first time in many years joined — at least briefly — by the child that's still with them.
This year, a relative brings a warning that they may stand to also lose their remaining child, and it makes just a little bit too much sense to be dismissed out of hand.
