Himejima, dripping, was in the process of lowering a child from his arms, long wet locks clinging to her back on top of a soaked, faded green kimono.
As soon as the young girl’s feet touched the ground, she promptly hid behind Gyomei with startled, sad eyes. She resembled a malnourished, abandoned puppy.
“It’s okay, Zenitsu,” Gyomei's soothing voice echoed. “They're your family now, there’s nothing to be afraid of."
Himejima welcomes a new orphan to the temple, one with anxious, golden eyes. One that would be every ‘first’ and every ‘only’ of Kaigaku, even though he was tied to her every 'last'.

Summary
Kaigaku, a street swindler, has a difficult getaway from the old man who's got his eyes set on him. Why should he bother with a petty criminal of no value? Although Kaigaku contemplates how to get rid of him, the old man has more to offer him than pity, and Kaigaku is quick to pick up on the fact that this is no ordinary person.
