Celine giggled nervously, dread pooling in the hollow of her stomach.
She tried to flee, but her body was heavy and her limbs unbelievably cumbersome, as if made of lead rather than flesh. She was forced to crawl pathetically on her hands and knees, trying to reach the edge of the pond. She could hear the frantic beating of her heart, barely supplanted by her heaving breaths echoing throughout the cavern.
