“I have a rainbow one! And a blue and green one! And a pink, purple, and blue one! And a blue and pink one! And this one is pink and orange! And - -”
“That’s a lot of flags, Spider-Man,” Eddie chuckles.
“Yep! I got them all. I have so many. Buck only has one. Which one do you have?”
“I don’t have a flag,” Eddie says. "I'm not sure which one belongs to me right now."
Or, Theo collects all the flags at Pride. Eddie tries to find one that fits.

Summary
It starts as a game. Just a fun little thing they do during shifts to keep themselves entertained.
The idea comes from Chimney.
“We should write secret admirer letters,” he says one afternoon, grinning like he’s just solved world peace.
“They don’t even have to be actual admirer letters. Write something funny. Tell someone you appreciate them. Confess your undying love. Whatever.”
Confess your undying love, huh.
Not gonna lie, Eddie is kind of interested in this one.

"You know I weigh more than Chris, right?"
"Are you asking me if I know a 190 lbs firefighter weighs more than my nine-year-old son?" Eddie asks, one eyebrow raised.
Eddie lowers his arms.
"Buck, I know how much you weigh and I know I am able to catch you. I deadlift your weight, you've seen me work out."
There is a weird sound coming from above. "Yeah, I remember."
"You're not even that far up. You can just slide down. So don't be scared to -"
"I'm not scared," Buck interrupts. "Chris, tell your dad I'm not scared."
"I don't know Buck," Chris contemplates, his face serious. "You kinda look scared."
"I - I'm not!" Buck splutters. "Eddie, tell him!"
Eddie sighs deeply.
Or: Buck never learnt how to ask for help. Luckily, the Diazes are there to show him how it's done.

Summary
“And you know what I want?” Eddie cuts him off, his arms crossing over his chest in defiance, a challenge burning in his eyes.
Buck freezes. The words he’d been about to say catch in his throat, evaporating into the thick, charged air between them. He hadn’t expected Eddie to turn it around like this, to pin him with a question so sharp it slices through his resolve.
Eddie doesn’t let up. He stares at Buck, his gaze unwavering, his voice dropping to something quieter but no less intense. “Go ahead, Buck. If you’re so sure, tell me. What do I want?”
“I think you want me,” Buck says, the words tumbling out on a single, ragged breath.

The day before Eddie leaves for Texas it all falls apart.
