An alien vessel approaches Erid requesting to land. The transmission uses the strangely flattened Eridian voice of a crew member long presumed dead.
Erid denies the request. The vessel lands anyway.
(AKA: Rocky and Grace save their stars. It doesn’t stop them from becoming Erid’s most enduring horror story.)

Summary
A series of short fics exploring Grace and Rocky's friendship, among other things. (Each chapter is its own story; I just wanted to have them all in one place.)
Chapter 1: Rocky thinks humans are equally disgusting and cute. Somehow, through it all, Grace reminds him of home.
Chapter 2: Rocky can pick Grace up easily, and Rocky thinks it is very funny. Rocky and Grace tease each other.
Chapter 3: Eridians bring Grace their babies for him to see, and Grace learns about Eridian culture/religion. Grace is also bad at taking compliments.
Chapter 4: Rocky makes Grace celebration jewelry. Later, Grace gets a similar gift from Adrian.
Chapter 5: Grace and Rocky tease each other, and Rocky is introduced to the idea of throwing things at your friends. He decides that humans are odd, but maybe aren't all that bad.
Chapter 6: Grace tries to convince Rocky to swim, but Eridians don’t typically like deep water because they are heavy and will sink/drown. Grace learns about some Eridian mythology.
Chapter 7: Grace talks about the lack of support teachers have on Earth. Rocky is confused by this.[This has a limit, so new chapters will have their description at the beginning of the chapter instead]

"Wow, you've thought about that way too hard." Ryland laughed. "Middle schoolers might not vape in class, though. Maybe I should switch."

“Oh! I- I was looking at the Taumoeba on the reverse microscope. Observing how they move, counting the population.”
“This tell Grace what, question?”
I shrugged.
“Not that much. Population is something I’m only trying to figure out for the sake of marking a… sample size; it’s a bit more difficult, since when I did work in the wet lab, it was mostly on bacteria, and we can’t exactly… count CFU for these guys. Once I have that, we can try looking at modifying them properly. I think the first step would be to mark sort of an… an MIC of nitrogen (...)” I sighed, pressing my glasses back upon my nose. “I’m gonna start on some more useful things in a second, but classical microbiology is sometimes just… fun.”
A beat.
“Grace use a lot of words and Rocky understand about half of them.”

Ryland Grace is a scentist, and so experiments he must do—they have to figure out how to breed nitrogen-resistant Taumoeba, after all.
It's a shame the lab was arranged by someone with not a lot of experience in the wet lab.
It's also a shame if he'll never get to talk to Eridian scientists about their sience.
