Summary
After the noodle incident and the bridge, Michael knows he should stay away from David.
Naturally, he keeps sneaking out to meet him.
Sam knows something is wrong. Michael is wearing sunglasses indoors, sleeping all day, lying badly, and smelling faintly like smoke, salt, leather, and bad decisions. With Nanook as his reluctant investigative partner, Sam begins tracking Michael’s increasingly suspicious nighttime behavior.
Meanwhile, David gets bolder.
He appears outside the Emerson house. He shadows Michael on the boardwalk. He gets close enough for Sam to notice, close enough for Nanook to growl, close enough to make Michael panic every time David smiles and asks if he should introduce himself properly.
Michael insists he does not want David anywhere near his life.
David keeps proving he is already in it.Series

Summary
“Stay away from me,” Michael finally snaps, hands outstretched, the third time that David tries to grab him by the arm and pull him in.
David, who had been halfway through some sort of joke about something that happened at last night’s gig, pauses, and then drops his arms with a sigh. He looks disappointed, like Michael is being very boring.
“Michael, please,” He says, extending both hands palms-up, like a show of peace. “No one here is going to hurt you, we’re–”
“Not like that,” Michael groans, and scrubs his face with his hands. “I stink.”
David pauses, reassessing. And then slowly, he smiles.
“You what?”
“I smell, man,” Michael pushes himself up off the couch and takes a sharp step away from him. “You could have told me this was part of… all of this! I haven’t been able to shower in forever. I feel gross, I smell gross– I’m supposed to just live like this? Forever?”
“No, no,” David says, waving a hand lazily in the air. “Don’t worry. It’s an easy solution. Come on, I’ve got something that will help.”
