a king was made of aegon ii, for his father stared into the flames — into the future — and saw the dragons dance. an oath was broken, an heir was named, and aegon, the second of his name, ascended the throne in peace.
yet, the realm bleeds and dragons roar, and a king must make a plea of a princess.

Summary
“The king must put the realm first,” Jaehaerys told Viserys shortly before his death. “The realm must always come before our own desires and dreams.”
It wasn’t until he saw the bleak future in his dream and faced the impossible choice that Viserys truly understood the old king’s words. With a heavy heart, he chose the stability of the realm over his beloved daughter.
And so, Aegon becomes the heir, while Rhaenyra is pushed down the line of succession and sent away to the grim fortress of their ancestors. The king promises her gold and freedom to live her life however she wants, but Rhaenyra knows those are only pretty words to soften the blow of her father’s rejection.
Until Daemon comes to Dragonstone…
