Evie was distracted from her tears by the unmistakable feeling of being watched. She looked up mid-sob to see a girl about her age standing over her, staring. Pale blonde waves framed her pretty face and unblinking green eyes. A dress of fine fabric in the same shade of green went down to her calves. It was a little embarrassing, Evie thought, to be observed by such a lovely creature when she had twigs in her hair and eyes puffy from tears.
"Hello?" Evie said when the girl didn't speak.
"Hi. What are you doing out here in the woods?"
Evie searched the girl's expression for any hint she was joking.
"...You're here too," She pointed out.
