Honestly, what kind of idiot turns their heating off when they’re away from home for three days in the middle of February?
Jan, apparently. He was that idiot. So his pipes froze, then one burst, and now his house was “uninhabitable” until the plumber managed to drain the water from his downstairs bathroom, the electrician had checked that nothing behind the wall was going to explode, and the insurance company were able to work out how much he’d need for some new flooring. Honestly, trying to save the environment was more trouble than it was worth sometimes.
