It will only last until tomorrow, he remembers with difficulty, dazed, fighting back the urge to hold onto Phainon, cling and never let go. It will only last a day. He should know better. One day is enough for kingdoms to fall.

Summary
As soon as Phainon stepped foot into the garden, his eyes immediately zeroed on Mydei sitting in the sea of bright flowers. His parents were beside him, quietly talking to each other.
Phainon’s breath hitched but before he could walk away and try another day, Beagle Coconut broke away from the mini chimera formation at Phainon’s legs with an excited shriek as soon as it spotted Fig Stew sleeping near Mydei. It barreled into the poor creature, talking a mile per minute and ignoring Fig Stew’s sleepy hissing and bristling fur. Beagle Coconut’s blue eyes sparkled like two little stars as it relayed everything that happened to it in the short time they were separated.
Phainon felt himself die a little inside. Was that how he acted when he was away from Mydei for a few days?
a strange curse had befallen the newly restored Amphoreus causing all of her people to wake up with breathing, living manifestations of their emotions. Phainon tries to deal with it the best way he can but it's hard, not only because he, for some reason, has three manifestations but also because now he has no choice but to face the true emotions of people closest to him. specifically... Mydei's.

Phainon works his hands into fists before releasing them.
“No.” Then, his real answer, or at least one closer to the truth: “I don’t know.” A beat. “Would you?”
for the successful defense of a refugee caravan bound for Okhema, Mydei and Phainon receive an unexpected gift.

Aglaea’s information must’ve gone bad, or maybe it was never good in the first place and she’d sent them out here on a corrupted teleslate’s whim to chase ghosts. The mission was already a wreck before a ruined corner of the city came raining down over their heads in a burst of marble and wood.
Which means Mydei’s a little too preoccupied to care at the moment.
Mydei is dying. Phainon, per usual, figures the rest out the hard way.
