Every time Leslie looked into Ted’s trusting eyes, he couldn’t help but see the same desperation for approval that had been in Rebecca’s eyes before. And once again, Leslie was in the position of listening to them pour their heart out even as he was deceiving them.
It’d break my heart if I found out she was hiding something from me. Ted had said, looking so earnest it made Leslie feel sick.
I’m sorry, I’m sorry he had been chanting in his head even while he offered advice hoping to ease Ted’s woes after his divorce.

This Moiraine was powerless, lost and broken in a way that made Nynaeve uneasy."
Back in Fal Dara after the events at the Eye of the World, Nynaeve has no idea how to interact with a damaged Moiraine. But a late-night encounter in the kitchens helps her begin to build a bridge between them, and she realizes something about herself as well.
