The bumper caught him hard enough to lift him off of his feet. Pain exploded through his hip.
Buck flew backwards, a wordless scream leaving his mouth at the fire running through his hip and down his leg.
When he landed on solid ground again, flat on his back, the wind was knocked out of his lungs. Sharp pain exploded everywhere.
And then he was rolling.
Rolling.
Rolling.
The world flew past him in fragments as he tumbled down the steep slope towards the ravine.
OR: After dropping the lawsuit, Buck takes up running to escape the silence of his loft. One rainy day changes everything.

Summary
Finally allowed to see Christopher again after the lawsuit debacle, Buck takes him to an observation deck on the top of a skyscraper in downtown LA when an earthquake suddenly hits the city. As Buck does everything in his might to get Christopher out of the crumbling building and back to Eddie, a race against time begins that Buck is determined to win.
Or, an earthquake, a collapsing building and Buck's sheer endless bad luck are not a good combination.

Dr. Diaz set the chart down on the counter and pulled on a pair of nitrile gloves. Man, those are some big hands, he observed absently. The snap of the latex against his wrist made Buck’s stomach flip. “You’re here for a pelvic ultrasound today, looks like. Transabdominal and transvaginal... mhm. You’ve had one before?”
“N-no.” Buck’s voice came out smaller than he intended. “It’s, uh, my first time.”
In which, Buck accidentally squirted on doctor Eddie during an ultrasound.

Summary
Chris and Buck convince Eddie that Chris will be safe if they go surfing, Eddie (against his better judgment agrees).
They have a good time at the beach, until Buck catches the wave at a bad angle and his whole board flips. Buck wraps Chris up in his arms immediately, his only thought, protecting their son.Buck isn’t able to get his bearings with Chris in his arms and ends up getting smacked in the head when a wave picks up his board and pushes it towards his head. He’s stunned, and goes under, both him and Chris both get a lungful of sea water each.
