Summary
From Kix, it felt different. It was a special kind of hurt, a special kind of ache. Rex would take Jesse's snide quips and back-handed comments over Kix blatantly ignoring him any day.
"Who puts a medic on a firing squad? The words Do No Harm might not mean anything to you, Captain, but they sure still mean a hell of a lot to me!”
The last time he remembered setting foot in the 501st medbay was on the ride back to Coruscant after Umbara. He'd taken one look at Kix's side-long glare from across the room and never went back…
When the events of Umbara creates a rift between Kix and Rex, both seem fine with letting the gap widen. It takes the aftermath of Kadavo to bring both brothers back to their senses.

Summary
If Krell needed someone to yell at, fine. If he wanted someone to push around, so be it. Rex wouldn’t complain. But he sure as the Seven Corellian Hells wasn’t going to let any of his brothers be that someone.
(Or, Umbara redone and extended. Based off of a story I wrote for Whumptober called “Bent to Near Broken.”)

Summary
Here is how you wake up, after the end of it all:
Burning alive, drowning, impaled on debris, shattered against rocks, brain fried to a hunk of cooked flesh, dissolved in acid, fire eaten through there’s just bone –
But that’s not right. There’s something warm to the left of your face (you hadn’t been able to maneuver away in time when Hollow’s Lantern spat out that chunk of volcanic rock. Shattered, empty, losing air, you think this is how Brittle Hollow feels.) and the smell of pine in your nose where you lie, sprawled on the ground, mouth open and throat raw.
Hypothesis: You’re screaming. In which there are unforeseen consequences.
