Rowena silently stares at her father from her position across from him in the back of the family town car.
"You've done what?" she asks, voice icy, and Alastair MacLeod didn't look up from the folder of documents spread across his lap, licking the tip of his finger to turn a page.
"I have secured an alliance with the Winchesters," he repeats himself, peering through the spectacles on the end of his nose at a line of highlighted text. "They currently have no heir, and with the eldest boy in prison and unmarried, there's little chance he'll produce one in the near future. I met with John Winchester to discuss terms, and we decided it was in both of our interests to secure both of our lines. You'll marry Samuel Winchester, the second son. Your child will inherit both the Winchester and the MacLeod empires when they're of age."

When she returns to the living room, Sam has returned from his errand, and relief spills through her at the sight of her husband. He smiles, looking up from his phone, and cups her face in his palm, bending down to kiss her.
"You're home earlier than I expected," Rowena says when they part, and Sam nods, his palm having moved to the swell of her belly.
"I don't like being away from you for very long," he replies, and warmth spills within her chest as her knuckles stroke along the length of his cheekbone.
