“Kris. Oh, Krissy…!” Tenna’s staticky was a sickly sweet drone. The cathode crooned deeply, and when they dared to cast a look back over their shoulder, Kris caught a glimpse of a hulking shadow, and jolted back into motion with a squeaky, panicked rasp.
“Fuck!”
Tenna chuckled as they jumped and scampered forward. “Hey, language. The censors will kill us for that sort of talk, kiddo!”

Summary
A child lay in their bed, eyes closed, but they were wide, wide awake. The darkness pulsed silently in the tiny room’s one sole window, though despite the chasm of stillness that lay beyond, its curtains swayed in a gentle, easy breeze.
The room was dark as is, nevermind once the lights were turned off. An eye cracked open just the barest bit. A lone red iris caught the reflection of several stars that shone down from the room’s black walls. The stars smelled dimly of chalk and warm crayons. They child shifted and nuzzled at the comforter, heavy and soft, covered in pink and light blue stripes. It smelled like home.
They then stiffened when they heard a sound.
