"His blood carried through the air, the scent catching Scott’s nose as he made his way through the empty town. It wasn’t a lot - most likely a papercut - but it caught his attention nonetheless. It drifted towards him, leading him to the source, hungry and ready to pounce.
Martyn had indeed slammed the hammer he was using on his finger, it seemed, hitting at just the right angle to cause blood to flood his cuticles. It was sweet, so unlike Martyn and his attitude. The smell was nearly sickening, like sugar and candy and every indulgence the humans had, and it made Scott’s mouth water."
