Summary
The Reaper War ended on a somber note; the Reapers were defeated, but Commander John Shepard was gone. It took his crew a long, hard year to come to terms with his death, but one turian couldn't handle it.
As the colonies of each race were steadily rebuilding with great success, the Alliance decides, with some convincing from the Normandy's human crew, to elect Garrus Vakarian as the Commander of the ship, to ensure the safety of the galaxy. Even after two years, the thought of replacing the man he followed through hell and back caused him too much pain. While the familiar faces of the crew are some help and reassurance, one particular face returns to provide him just the right comfort, despite the fact he's krogan. All he needs is someone to help him keep going.

Hey, this is a fun little headcanon I came up with because I was thinking about Garrus and Wrex. I apologize if chapters are a little slow sometimes, I'm trying to revive my art as well. Feel free to point out any tags I might've missed, and enjoy.

Summary
During the war with the Reapers, Aralahk Company was nearly completely wiped out dealing with Rachni soldiers, with Grunt as the only survivor of the group. It didn't take long to recover, and a new set of promising krogan warriors helped bring the group back up to strength. There was just one slot left open, and Grunt, having learned from Shepard and the crew he worked with, wanted to make sure it was someone that could work well with what he had. And after 2 years, the position is finally filled.
