This was a bad mis-play. Even Anairë knew it, by the dangerous power that lingered in Fëanáro’s voice when he said, “you mean to send her away to Lórien?”
He was being offered everything he had ever wanted on a platter, and he didn’t appear to have noticed. Nolvo – and Sauron, she supposed – had always said that Fëanáro had terrible political instincts. Just now, she was horribly grateful for them.

Fëanáro’s eyes, ever-bright with the flames of his spirit, followed their darting motion. (I never saw her, but in those woods I could feel her presence, a sickness that overlay everything. Sauron was afraid of her. I don’t think they were allies. I think she’s something more terrible than any being, even Moringotto, could ally with.)
