Summary
Waverly Earp is on the cusp of graduating with a PhD in History from the University of Virginia, but her thesis has already taken over a year longer than intended. Rosita, her mentor and doctoral advisor, exiles Waverly to her beach house situated in the gorgeous Outer Banks, with the intent of allowing Waverly the space to relax and re-center herself. There she meets the stand-offish Nicole Haught, owner of a local acai place called Outer Bowls, who seems to be hiding from something in her own past. The two find a fast connection, wondering whether a summer fling might be something they both need in order to move forward in their individual lives.
