Steve and Sam return from a futile tour of the globe on the heels of the ghost of the Winter Soldier to find a pile of postcards with the names of confirmed-killed HYDRA agents waiting at Stark Tower: mission reports from the ghost to the only commanding officer he still feels he has.
All of it is set to culminate in New York City... if Bucky can remember what he set up.With some Clint/Natasha, Bucky/Natasha, Steve/Sam pining, a whole bunch of friendship dynamics, gratuitous pop culture references (Bucky is obsessed with pop music, as a coping strategy), slash, het, and a lot of cussing.

This is the follow-up to The Night Has Seen Your Mind.
I just wanted to write some Stucky h/c but this, well, I'm not saying there's none of that, I'm just saying that's not really what this is. Never could do things the easy way.
This is Bucky in from the cold, fresh off a triumphant escape from HYDRA, but stuck now with the aftermath. His arm is busted, he has 75 years of cumulative damage to deal with, HYDRA's vengeance includes releasing the files on his missions to the world and whipping up sentiment against him, he still has implanted conditioning to reckon with, and he's a YouTube sensation.
Steve has to handle his confusing career status, the unfinished business he and Bucky left behind decades ago, and the whole idea of having personal feelings and, like, relationships and things.
Natasha is still coming to terms with life as not-a-spy, and her own implanted conditioning.
Sam Wilson is perfect in every way but sometimes exasperated. His job is not easy. His personal life is even less easy.Series

Peggy, on the other hand, thinks they can make this work out just fine.It could have a happy ending, but since this is Captain America, it just has a sad unresolved one. Inspired by various people's ruminations and headcanons about Steve Rogers' barely-mentioned pre-serum colorblindness in the MCU. I know I'm not the only one who observed that the brightest-colored thing in the room immediately after his transformation would have been the blood-red lipstick Peggy Carter was wearing.
You think maybe that gave him a kink?I was going to wait and post this at a point where it fit in with the timeline of the stuff I'm working on, but it's my birthday and I do what I want. Softcore-porny fluff is what I want. So there.

Bucky discovers that his new StarkTech prosthetic (ok the old one was too but this one is more so) is really really really good for grating potatoes. Also, ruminations on combat command structure, job-hunting, Pepper's taste in shoes, and the fact that he has a crush on everybody ever.

Direct sequel to Straight To The Hard Stuff. Natasha pegs the everloving fuck out of Steve, whose mind is blown. Bucky POV; Bucky deals a little bit with some of his trauma by realizing that everybody he's sleeping with has been carefully, respectfully concealing their respective cyborg fetishes and they all not-so-secretly want him to do them with the robot arm.
Mostly, though, Steve is on a voyage of self-discovery and they're all along for the ride.
