Summary
“Have dinner with me,” the other man said, once Clint was sorted, and it was neither a demand nor a request, but something in-between that sent a tingle down Clint’s spine.
“Now?” Clint blurted, glancing around at the afternoon sunshine filtering through the trees around them.
James chuckled. “Tonight,” he corrected. “I’ll pick you up at seven.”
“Sure?” Clint said, bewildered and — okay, he was still a little confused by James’ interest in him, a lot of weirdly turned on, and bafflingly into the way he made requests sound like orders. “I can — I can do that.”
It was disconcerting to be the object of such clear desire, especially having made such an utter fool of himself in the elevator.
“Good,” James said with a smile, a little bit of the sunshine warmth he’d shown Natasha, but tempered with something darker and more heated. “Wear something nice,” he instructed, and when he walked away his hand trailed down the bare skin of Clint’s arm, his thumb ghosting over Clint’s wrist in a way that made him shiver.
What the fuck.

Summary
“What’s your safe word?” James asked, and goosebumps rose on Clint’s neck in response to the breath on his skin.
“Decaf,” Clint said, the word coming out on shaky exhalation.
“Good,” James responded, sliding his hands underneath the t-shirt Clint was wearing.
“What if you can’t remember your safe word?”
Clint would drop dead before he drank uncaffeinated coffee, but he dutifully answered the question, because he’d learned over the last few months that James would go no further if he didn’t. “Then I say red.”
He got a scrape of teeth against his shoulder and a tweaked nipple for his trouble. Clint arched into the touch.
“And if I need to slow down?”
“Yellow,” Clint breathed, going lax under James’ familiar hands.
James hummed in approval, and stripped Clint’s shirt over his head.
“And green means go,” Clint added, before he could be asked. James pinched his side.
“I thought you wanted a reward,” James growled, “Not a punishment.”

Summary
“I’m gonna spank you,” James murmured into Clint’s ear, his breath hot where it ghosted across his skin. “And you’re gonna count. Ten strikes. If you don’t count ‘em out loud, you get another. It only counts if you number it, do you understand?”
James' hands were trailing over his bare skin, up and down his spine and across his ribs, and Clint vaguely wondered if he was checking for injury more than copping a feel, before deciding he didn’t care.
“Gotta count the swats, got it.” Clint was already sinking into that place in his mind where everything was quiet and still and entirely about whatever James asked him to do. The anxiety of the day and the pain in his leg seemed to fade away beneath the desire to be good, beneath the realization that as long as he did whatever James told him to do, he was right. He felt James’ chest vibrate under his hands as he chuckled silently, and Clint distantly wondered what was so funny.
“Normally, I’d turn you over my lap,” James said, slow and thoughtful, and Clint —
Clint felt a hot rush of want coil in his gut, and he made an involuntary noise in the back of his throat.

Summary
James’ face didn’t look neutral now. It looked flushed and predatory, with wide-dilated eyes and hitched breathing, and his hand around Clint’s neck was tight, not quite painful, but controlling, and that was enough to wind Clint up just that little bit more.
“Okay,” James said carefully. He stroked his fingers through Clint’s messy hair, scraped a thumb across the sensitive place under his ear, pressing at the hinge of his jaw. “Okay. Take this.” He handed Clint the box back, still oh-so-careful, like he was holding onto his control by the thinnest shreds. “Wait for me in the bedroom. Naked. On the bed.”
Clint jerked to his feet like a badly-directed puppet, almost tripping over his own toes in his haste, and took two steps to the side, ready to walk around the coffee table and James to go down the hall. James stopped him, reaching up and grabbing a handful of Clint’s t-shirt and yanked him down into a kiss that was hard and biting. Clint moaned into it, gripping the box tightly enough that his fingers were gonna go numb.
“Five minutes,” James growled, when he released Clint’s shirt.

Summary
“Maybe,” Clint panted, shoving James’s jacket off his shoulders. “What are you gonna do about it?”
And that was either exactly the wrong or exactly the right thing to say, because James paused, just long enough for Clint to realize he’d maybe pushed a little too far, and then James was herding Clint back towards the bedroom, divesting him of his clothes as they went. Clint must have teased him nearly to the breaking point because he was leaving a trail of clothes behind them.
But James was a man on a mission, and Clint’s tie landed somewhere in the vicinity of the sofa, his jacket got dropped on the floor, and he barely got his shoes kicked off along the way as James hustled them to bed.
“Strip,” James told him, when they were in the bedroom, Clint down to his socked feet and his half-unbuttoned shirt. “You’ve been taunting me all night and now I’m going to return the favor.”
Clint couldn’t help the shiver as he rushed to obey, pulling his shirt over his head instead of unbuttoning it and dropping his pants to the ground.
“All of it,” James encouraged him, “take it all off for me, sweetheart.”

Summary
“You like it,” James said, a little bit knowing but also a little wonder in his voice, like he hadn’t expected Clint to agree to it, much less appreciate it as much as the obvious bulge in his pants let on.
“Yeah,” Clint croaked, finally managing to squeeze words out. “It looks — I like —” he gave up, unable to articulate the complicated mix of feelings. He liked people being able to look at him and see he belonged with James, liked the predatory, possessive way James looked at him, liked the mark on his throat and the clear signal it sent that he was taken. That someone wanted him.
Wanted to keep him.
“I like it,” he agreed, eventually. “Not all the time but —”
“Just for tonight,” James said, seeming to catch on to whatever it was Clint was trying to tell him. He straightened Clint’s shirt and smoothed the shoulders of his jacket. “Tonight for the party, and if you’re very, very good, you can have anything you want when we get home.”
