Summary
[Castiel] found the colour. It was a green, one of the few gentle colours at the edges of his dreams and the one he tried to capture in his paintings, never quite finding the right hue. He spent so long chasing the colours, trying to find it though pills and needles, but they always evaded his grasp. Yet he found one, right here, hiding in the eyes of a stranger. He studied the colour, the subtle differences between dark and light, the little flecks of gold nearly hidden in the sea of green, the ring around the outside. He studied it, trying to commit the colour to memory.
The other man cleared his throat. “Uh, dude?” Oh. Castiel forgot the colour was attached to a person.

The United States was a humongous place. Dean would know, with how many times he’d driven across the damn place. Who also happened to be the first male shaped person he slept with. Who also started to bring forth a whole lot of complicated stuff he pretended he didn't notice anymore.
Shit.

Summary
'Well, yeah. This is my last year.'
When Dean said those words, soft and earnest, Sam watched as the mask made of bravado slipped off his brother’s face for just a moment before Sam shut him down.
Dean laughed as he showed Cas how to put his hands up behind his ears, something to do with antlers no doubt, though Sam missed the shift in topic. Cas never had a Christmas either. Sam smiled as he watched his two favorite dorks joke around, childlike glee glimmering in Dean’s eyes, and, just like the Grinch, Sam’s heart grew three sizes. It would hurt, Sam knew, to sit with his little family, aware it would be the last time they ever would. This was what Dean wanted, though, and Dean deserved to be happy no matter how much he acted the opposite.
Shit. He was going to do this, wasn’t he? What the hell was even open on Christmas Day, anyway?

Summary
It was only a stupid idea if it did not work, right?
That was what Castiel told himself when he was snatched directly from Hell and thrown immediately behind bars. He was still mortal, mostly, so the angels infused him with enough grace that he would not combust the moment he entered Heaven. They would not be able to torture him if they let him fade out of existence.
It worked. Castiel heard it. Everyone with even a little power heard it. Castiel’s plan had worked.
'Dean Winchester is saved.'
